Red Rose Regatta 1 - April 28th 2013

The first Red Rose Regatta (handicapped) of 2013 was raced on the river Lune on Sunday. A short time trial from the Aqueduct to JOG Boat House started the event to set the handicap times for a range of junior crews and boat types. The handicapping was based on a similar event run at Tees Regatta.There were then a series of rounds (quarter, semi and finals) with some crews given a calculated number of seconds head start. LRGSBC and LSRA took part.

The weather was a bit windy. Well done to Jack Hatchman and Alex Steinert for finishing in first position in their J17 2x. Good preparation for Merseyside Regatta next Saturday. Well done to all that took part. The handicap system used will be reviewed so see if a fairer one for younger juniors can be developed. Many thanks to Mr.Yates and Ciro for running the event with JOG.
